classic Lasagna recipe

Ingredients:

1 pound ground beef
1 pound Italian sausage
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cans crushed tomatoes (28 ounces each)
2 cans tomato paste (6 ounces each)
2 cups water
3 teaspoons dried basil
2 teaspoons dried parsley
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds, crushed
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 1/2 cups grated Parmesan cheese
12 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
Directions:
1- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, Italian sausage, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink. Drain the fat.
3- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, water, basil, parsley, salt, fennel seeds, and black pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4- In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spread 1 1/2 cups of the meat sauce. Top with 4 lasagna noodles, 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese, and 1/4 cup of the Parmesan cheese. Repeat the layers twice.
5- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
6- Let the lasagna cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
