Apple Pie Cake

Ingredients:


2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 cup diced apples
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg


Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs and vanilla extract until combined.
  5. Gradually stir in flour mixture, alternating with applesauce, until batter is smooth.
  6. In a separate bowl, toss diced apples with cinnamon and nutmeg.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared cake pan, then layer the apple mixture on top.
  8. Pour the remaining batter on top of the apples.
  9. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Let cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
